SJC Roles

The Supreme Judicial Council is responsible for:
- Setting the general policy for the judiciary.
- Ensuring the proper functioning of the courts and the public prosecution, and its development.
- Facilitating litigation procedures and bringing them closer to litigants.
- Proposing draft laws and royal decrees related to the judiciary.
- Providing opinions on draft agreements for judicial cooperation between the Sultanate of Oman and other countries.
- Enhancing and developing cooperation in judicial matters with relevant authorities in regional and international specialized organizations and institutions.
- Any matters the Sultan sees fit to present to the council.
- Any other responsibilities stipulated by laws and royal decrees.
